The building of the Rehabilitation Center of the “Yardem” Foundation was equipped with tactile-sound indicators

Now, to navigate the blind in the building of the Rehabilitation Center of the National Islamic Charitable Foundation "Yardem" has become much more convenient and easier. Thanks to a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan, all signs and signs in the room are equipped with sound, mnemonic diagrams are installed.

In early November 2019, the Yardem National Islamic Charitable Fund won the competition for the provision of subsidies from the budget of the Republic of Tatarstan to non-profit organizations implementing socially significant projects in the nomination “Identifying best practices of non-profit organizations, disseminating successful social technologies”.

Thanks to a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy of Tatarstan, information plates were updated in the building of the Rehabilitation Center of the “Yardem” National Islamic Charity Foundation. Now, the blind can find out the numbers of cabinets and their purpose by the updated tactile-sound indicators. In addition to a sound notification, the index also indicates inscriptions on the braille and dot braille and in Cyrillic. All this contributes to the improvement of the accessible environment in the building of the “Yardem” Foundation Rehabilitation Center as part of the implementation of the see and hear with the social project for the rehabilitation of the blind and visually impaired.

More than 250 blind and visually impaired people undergo training and social rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Center each year, and the most effective orientation training is possible using both the visual and sound methods of perceiving the world around us.

According to the blind Khadija Ramazanova from Dagestan, who was in many rehabilitation centers, she sees this for the first time: “It has become much more convenient to navigate. Now you certainly won't get lost, ”she jokes.

In addition to pointers, tactile mnemonic diagrams were installed, allowing the blind to more easily navigate the object. The mimic diagram is a diagram, but not flat, but three-dimensional, where the designations of walls, floor doors and cabinet numbers protrude by about 2 mm relative to the rest of the surface. The volumetric elements of mnemonic diagrams allow the blind or visually impaired to study the building in order to get all the necessary information about the location of a particular office. Mnemonic diagrams are indispensable for people with profound visual impairments, helping them navigate in space freely and without outside help.

The entrances to the building, halls and floors are equipped with mnemonic diagrams, showing the visually impaired and blind people the paths to the necessary rooms. Having studied the mnemonic diagram, a visually impaired person will be able to “see” all the elements of a building or area, find out about his location, as well as the location of existing rooms, offices, stairs, elevators, etc., and then independently follow his goal, guided by the information received.
