The blind and visually impaired began to master the basics of computer literacy

In conditions of informatization of society, the quality of life and social status of an individual are largely determined by the possibility of active participation in public information exchange. In the age of technology and the development of the Internet, people who have vision problems actively use the opportunities of virtual communication and information.

The Rehabilitation Center of the National Islamic Charity Fund "Yardem" operates a specialized computer class to train people with disabilities to modern information and communication technologies. The training program for the blind and visually impaired under the project "See and hear with the heart" provides for the training of computer literacy using the special speech access program "Jaws".

Today, the Rehabilitation Center, as part of the rehabilitation courses, passed the first lessons: the blind and visually impaired began to master the basics of computer literacy. The blind were taught to use a standard keyboard, there is also a Braille display that allows you to work with a PC both blind and deaf-blind.

The visually impaired have learned to work in Excel - Microsoft Office. We studied the capabilities of this program. In the process of training, rehabilitants realized that in Excel you can not only fill out the table, but also make mathematical calculations. During the course, the rehabilitants will study the possibilities of the Excel program in applying these mathematical formulas and master the possibilities of this program by the end of the course. There is also work to master the program Word. Basic skills are to be consolidated: working with folders, files and on the Internet.

Upon completion of the courses, the visually impaired will receive an effective tool for free independent access to public information resources.
